Chelsea are ready to steal Luke Shaw away from Manchester United, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Southampton teenager has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best young players in recent times, with his fledgling displays having earned him international recognition and a shock spot in England’s World Cup squad.

Manchester United have been linked with the 18-year-old, with various rumours having suggested that a £27m deal is close to completion.

But with a transfer dragging on, Chelsea are ready to swoop.

The Blues were the first top side to be linked with Shaw, but their interest cooled when talk of a near £30m valuation surfaced.

Yet they have now altered their stance, and are keen to snap him up from under the noses of United.

The youngster himself may be more open to joining the London club, as he is known to have supported them for some time.

Southampton also face a fight to keep a number of their other star names, including captain Adam Lallana.

The midfielder is said to be looking to move to Liverpool, while the likes of Dejan Lovren, Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez are also attracting attention.
