Jose Mourinho has given the latest Chelsea injury update ahead of the clash with Sunderland on Wednesday, and has confirmed that both David Luiz and Oscar will not be fit to play, according to ITV.com.
Luiz has been forced to sit out the Blues last two games against Basel and Southampton with a knee injury, and whilst the Chelsea manager is sure he won’t be fit to travel to the Stadium of Light tomorrow, he may well return to face Stoke City at the weekend.
“David Luiz is not training with the team,” Mourinho told a pre-match media conference.
“He is still with the medical department. I don’t know [how much longer he will be out] let’s see for the weekend.
“We are playing for quite a long time with John Terry and Gary Cahill.
“I hope sooner or later that I have David so I can rotate a little bit like I can do in other positions.”
Mourinho also revealed that Brazilian playmaker Oscar will also miss out on the trip to face Gus Poyet’s side, after suffering an ankle injury.
Oscar has been one of the standout performers for the Blues so far this season, and has already scored six Premier League goals this season.
“Oscar is not in condition for this match,” he added.
However, Samuel Eto’o is in contention to start the midweek clash after missing the Southampton game through injury.
Mourinho said: “Eto’o has been training with the team since yesterday. He looks fine.”
