Jose Mourinho looks ready to step up his interest in Porto duo Jackson Martinez, and Nicolas Otamendi, with sources in Portugal claiming Chelsea scouts were present over the weekend, reports talkSPORT.
Mourinho hopes to bring in a new striker and a new centre-back in the January transfer window, and has set his sights on the pair from his former club.
Colombian striker Martinez has recently come out and said he hopes to move to a bigger club in the near future, while Argentine defender Otamendi is believed to have been a long term target for the Blues.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola claims the Special One had scouts in attendance for Porto’s 1-1 draw with Nacional at the Estadio do Dragao.
They were there to witness Martinez bag his 11th goal of the season, with the forward currently thought to be one of the most coveted in Europe.
Borussia Dortmund and Napoli are also thought to be on his trail, while Premier League duo Tottenham and Liverpool have both been linked.
Mourinho wants to add more goals to his Chelsea side, with Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o struggling for Premier League goals between them.
A new centre back is also high on the agenda, with stories linking David Luiz with a move to Barcelona refusing to go away.
However, Otamendi is also attracting strong interest from Zenit St Petersburg, and Italian giants AC Milan.
