The full-back joined the Villains for the remainder of the season in January after slipping down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
Despite Ashley Cole having lost his starting berth, Bertrand was not called upon by ‘The Special One’, who instead opted to field Cesar Azpilicueta – a right-sided defender – in the role.
Since moving to Villa Park the 24-year-old has been in good form, leading to speculation of a permanent switch away from Chelsea.
But Mourinho feels that his loan ace could return and enjoy a bright future this summer:
“He has a future at Chelsea, a future and a past. Of course he has a future.” He is quoted by Sky Sports.
“The decision to let him go to Villa was good because he’s playing and what he needed was to play every game.
“But maybe next season he is with us.”
Liverpool are also believed to be interested in Bertrand, yet it remains unclear as to whether Chelsea would be willing to success a deal with a direct rival.
