German international Andre Schurrle is closing in on a move to Chelsea after talks started with Bayer Leverkusen, according to Sky Sports.
The Blues have long been linked with a move for Schurrle but they have moved a step closer to landing the player after Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller jetted in for talks this week.
It is thought Chelsea will have to pay in the region of £20million to land Schurrle and although there is still a long way to go before a deal can be completed, at least talks have begun.
“It was good to meet Chelsea officials, and the discussions went well, but no decision has been made yet,” Voller said of the situation.
The deal could hinge on Chelsea starlet Kevin De Bruyne and whether he would be willing to join Leverkusen on loan, rather than join Borussia Dortmund on a permanent basis.
Voller is also due to meet with De Bruyne in the coming days and if the player can agree to a loan move then Chelsea’s hopes of landing Schurrle will be boosted.
