Chelsea are lining up a surprise move for Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow, reports the Mirror.

Jose Mourinho has ordered Blues scouts to search for a number of home-grown talents, with Darlow near the top of their wish list. The Forest ‘keeper could move to the Premier League to become Petr Cech’s number two.

Darlow has had a terrific season with Forest, and talks about a move to Chelsea will take place once the club know if they are in the Championship Playoffs or not. Forest are currently in 7th, 2 points outside of the Playoff positions.

The 23-year-old will be offered the chance to be Cech’s understudy, with Belgian Thibaut Courtois set to continue his time away from the club. Rumours have linked the ‘keeper with a permanent move to Atletico, with Mourinho wanting striker Diego Costa to come to Stamford Bridge as part of the deal.

Currently the Blues have experienced shot-stopper Mark Schwarezer on the bench, but Mourinho wants to bring in a bunch of young, English, players into his squad. Darlow has also been linked with a move to Tottenham and Liverpool. Cech was unable to keep a clean sheet on the weekend, as Chelsea’s shock loss at Crystal Palace meant they lost top spot in the Premier League.
