Jose Mourinho is considering a move that would see him reunited with Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, according to the Express.
Khedira was strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer, but a serious knee injury prevented Mourinho making a move for his former player.
The German international is reportedly keen on a move away from the Bernabeu, and Chelsea would appear to be the ideal destination for a player who has labelled himself “one of Mourinho’s disciples.”
Khedira has had limited opportunities to impress this season, managing just 15 appearances in all competitions, and is likely to miss out on the summer’s World Cup.
Despite Khedira’s reported desire to move on, it is unknown whether Mourinho’s purchase of £21million Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic in January, has solved his need for a world class defensive midfielder.
It is also unclear as to whether Real Madrid would be willing to sanction a move, with Carlo Ancelotti previously stating he sees Khedira as an important player, with the 26-year-old crucial to counteracting the attacking firepower of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
