Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is keen to be reunited with Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, according to reports from MARCA.

The Portuguese coach is known to be a massive fan of the 21-year-old after working with him at the Bernabeu – in which time he handed him his first major run in Los Blancos’ first-team as a teenager.

Mourinho has since remained keen on the Frenchman, and is now ready to lure him to west London as he plots to bolster his defensive options.

The Blues are set to sell David Luiz this summer, and ‘The Special One’ is eager to snap up a replacement for the erratic Brazilian.

Varane is one of European football’s most highly-rated young defenders, and a player that Real value highly.

The La Liga giants are unlikely to be willing to let him go unless a massive bid is received, with senior figure Zinedine Zidane known to be a massive fan of the starlet.

Varane is set to feature during this summer’s World Cup after winning his fifth senior Les Bleus international cap in a recent friendly against the Netherlands.
