Chelsea are readying a summer move for unsettled Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze, according to reports from The Metro.

The German international only joined the Bundesliga champions from bitter rivals Borussia Dortmund last year, but has endured a relatively underwhelming campaign at the Allianz Arena.

Despite costing upwards of £30m, Gotze has not been used as a key first-team player by Pep Guardiola, who has a wealth of talented options to choose from in central areas.

The 21-year-old recently confessed that he is not content with his current situation:

“Of course I’m not happy,

“I want to win back the trust of the coach to play more.”

This has alerted Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who is said to be ready to make serious additions to his squad in the summer.

‘The Special One’ chased Gotze while at Real Madrid and has remained an admirer of his talents ever since.

Bayern are unlikely to be willing to sell for below the sum they paid for the playmaker 12 months ago, so a deal will cost the London club should they look to push through a swoop.

As well as Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with the youngster.
