Pachuca’s vice-president Andre Fossi revealed the Blues have been keeping a close eye on Damm but have not begun talking about with Pachuca about a potential transfer.
The 21-year-old Damm has already been linked with Manchester United after taking part in a short trial with the club in early 2013.
Fassi said Chelsea officials could arrive in Mexico as early as Thursday to begin discussions and Pachuca will gauge the club’s interest before making a decision. He said their first preference is to hang on to the young winger.
“When it comes to us, it’s a matter of sporting project,” Fassi told Medio Tiempo. “We want him to stay and we will see how much Chelsea are interested.”
Damm, who holds dual citizenship with Mexico and Germany, has been with Pachuca since 2013 after playing with Estudiantes Tecos 2011.
Jose Mourinho’s side could be interested in Damm as insurance in case the club loses star winger Eden Hazard, who has recently been linked to a move with Paris Saint-Germain for a huge £61million fee.
