Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is ready to turn to Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzukic to solve his attacking concerns, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Blues boss has made little secret of his frustrations with his current crop of strikers this season, with Fernando Torres in particular coming in for criticism.

As a result he is expected to delve into the transfer market this summer to ease his worries, and has set his sights on unsettled Bayern star Mandzukic.

The Croatian forward looks likely to lose his starting berth at the Allianz Arena to Robert Lewandowski – who has already agreed a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund – and could even slip behind another target Loic Remy in Pep Guardiola’s pecking order.

This has alerted Mourinho, who is ready to offer him an escape route.

Chelsea look set to snap up Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa, but even if the Spanish international arrives more additions in the same department are expected.

Mandzukic – who has netted 18 Bundesliga goals this season – could be tempted by a switch to the Premier League, with a fresh challenge after two years at Bayern a potentially attractive proposition.
