The Belgian glovesman is currently in his third season with Atletico Madrid – whom he joined on loan upon arriving in London from Genk – and is believed to be unsure of his Stamford Bridge future.
Courtois has been tipped to return to Chelsea in the summer to challenge Petr Cech for the number one spot, but the 21-year-old is thought be seeking guarantees surrounding his playing time.
After being a first-team regular in Madrid, he is reluctant to return to his parent club to warm the bench.
With Cech a favourite of Mourinho, Courtois’ future has been in doubt for some time amid his desire to play regularly.
According to the ‘keeper’s father, Thierry, discussions are schedule to take place between the parties, which could clarify the situation:
“We have a meeting with Chelsea and we will be talking about everything with them,”
“It is too early to make a definite decision yet. We have to negotiate with Chelsea.
“Thibaut has been doing very well with Atletico but there are still three months of the season to go, and a lot can happen in that time.”
