Chelsea are planning a summer clear out of more than ten players, according to the Evening Standard.

Fernando Torres, Ashley Cole and John Obi Mikel are just some of the star names that are set to depart Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Manager Jose Mourinho was unhappy with the manner in which his side damaged their title hopes with a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday, and admitted big changes will need to be made to the squad in the summer.

Mourinho again revealed his frustrations at his under-performing strikers, but a host of players in other positions are also set to depart.

The senior members of the squad who face an uncertain future are, Torres, David Luiz, Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o, Mikel, Cole, and back up goalkeepers Hilario and Mark Schwarzer.

The club are anxious to comply with UEFA’s financial fair play rules, which means they could sell any of the 28 players they currently have loaned out, including the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Marko Marin, Victor Moses and Ryan Bertrand.

Mourinho is determined to make some high profile signings, with Diego Costa of Atletico Madrid believed to be a priority.

The Chelsea boss knows he will have to raise money in order to get the quality he wants, and the club are finally willing to cut their losses on £50m man Fernando Torres.

The Spaniard still has two years to run on his £175k a week contract, but has managed just four league goals this season.
