Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is weighing up a shock move for Cardiff City midfielder Mats Moller Daehli, according to the Independent.

The 19-year-old Norwegian has reportedly caught the eye of Jose Mourinho as he looks to bolster his midfield ahead of next season.

And Daehli is thought to be the perfect fit for his hard-working midfield policy at Stamford Bridge, although another reason behind his interest could be his home-grown status in England.

The midfielder spent time at Manchester United’s academy is a youngster and could therefore be brought in by Mourinho in order to bolster his quota of home-grown talent in his Premier League squad.

With the likes of Frank Lampard, John Terry and Ashley Cole at the tail end of their careers, Mourinho will need to look a lot closer to home if he is to meet the strict Premier League guidelines in the future.

Daehli has been one of Cardiff’s signings of the season and is thought to be happy at the club as they slip further towards relegation back to the Championship.
