Chelsea are ready to sell Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel, to fund a move for Sami Khedira, reports the Express.

Mikel has been at Stamford Bridge since 2006, after signing from Lyn despite initially agreeing to join Manchester United. But the midfielder’s spell in London could be over, with Mourinho ready to make space for a World Cup winner.

Khedira has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, but the Portuguese manager is ready to work again with Khedira, who he left last summer at Real Madrid to rejoin Chelsea. The German is keen on leaving the Bernabeu, and could be available for £20million. Mourinho has already bolstered his midfield this summer with the addition of Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Paul Pogba this summer, but with his £60million price tag, a move for the Frenchman is looking unlikely. The Blues look ready to give up on the Juventus midfielder, and move on to Khedira.

Arsenal fans may not enjoy hearing the news of Chelsea’s interest, after numerous reports suggested they were closing in on the World Cup winner, who missed the final in Brazil due to injury. But Mourinho is hoping that he can convince the German to work under him once more, and move to Stamford Bridge instead of joining the Gunners.

Mikel could leave for £10million, with reports that Inter Milan are ready to bring the Nigerian to Serie A.
