Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech believes that Liverpool’s lack of Premier League title-winning experience may be telling over the final weeks of the season.

The Reds made themselves favourites to claim English football’s top prize with a weekend win over Manchester City, and could take a further stride in the right direction as they face the Blues at Anfield in two weeks’ time.

Few expected Liverpool to be in contention this season after a seventh place finish last term, but Brendan Rodgers' side – spearheaded by 29-goal high scorer Luis Suarez – have been, arguably, the country’s most exciting team.

If they do go on to claim the trophy, it will be the first time the Merseysiders have been English football’s top team in 24 years, and the only time they have tasted Premier League success.

Cech – whose Chelsea team are only two points behind – says that although Liverpool have been terrific, their lack of know-how could be detrimental:

"Nobody expected anything from Liverpool this season and they're in contention — it's why they've been able to play without pressure so far," He is quoted by The London Evening Standard.

"But let's see how they will cope when it comes to the last hurdle. They will have to jump over it. They have been doing remarkably well but we're still around.

"We have players who are used to playing big games. Sometimes when you have a young team full of enthusiasm they don't feel any pressure, they just play.”

Cech also talked up Chelsea’s hopes:

"Obviously, we have to wait for one slip up from Manchester City but if we win our games we have a chance.”
