Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois is set for crunch talks with Jose Mourinho in the coming weeks, with the goalkeeper’s future on the agenda.
The Belgian stopper is currently on loan with Atletico Madrid and has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
However with Petr Cech established as the Blues’ number one, the 21-year-old looks set for a battle to establish himself in West London, which has led to talk of a potential full transfer away from the club.
Atletico are believed to be keen to make his temporary switch a permanent one, but Chelsea themselves are desperate to keep the young glovesman.
Courtois – who wants assurances over his first-team role at the club – says that he is set to talk with Mourinho soon:
“My agent is talking with Chelsea. One of the coming weeks I’ll have a chat with José Mourinho,” he is quoted by The Metro.
“I think there will be a decision about my future at the end of March, or in the first weeks of April.”
Despite having signed for Chelsea in 2011, Courtois is yet to make an appearance for them after being loaned to Atletico upon penning his contract at the club.
