goalkeeper Petr Cech claims Liverpool's Luis Saurez is not a cheat, despite the Uruguayan striker being accused of diving on several occasions in recent months.

The Liverpool forward has been heavily criticised for going to ground to easily this season and many thought they would see a repeat of that we he found himself one-on-one with Cech in the 1-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

But Cech has praised Suarez's decision not to go to ground and has defended the player, claiming he is a dangerous striker.

He told Goal: "We should give Suarez credit because when we had a one-versus-one, he didn't try to cheat and jump or dive, and that was a fair thing for him to do.

"We all know how dangerous he is in the box. He is a natural goalscorer, always in the right place to tap the ball in. It is a gift not everyone has.

"He is on fire this season in terms of scoring goals and, unfortunately, he had the chance to keep that run going on Sunday."

Cech also defended the striker's equaliser against the Blues, where he looked to have pushed Ramires out of the way before heading in, and believes Chelsea should have had the game won by that point.

"Suarez is a clever player and he did it in a moment when the referee and his assisrant could not have seen it," he added.

"I don't know how much of a push there was by Suarez but we should have been 3-0 up and we should not be discussing the incident."
