Chelsea are hoping to hijack Liverpool’s deal for Southampton defender Dejan Lovren, according to reports in Croatia.
The Anfield club have reportedly had a £20million offer accepted for the 25-year-old centre-back and are due to open contract talks.
But Blues boss Jose Mourinho is also keen on the Croatia international and is preparing a last minute deal that will ‘blow Liverpool out of the water.’
Brendan Rodgers’ side looked dead certs to secure Lovren’s signature this week to make him their third acquisition from Southampton this summer.
But their Premier League title rivals appear to be serious about ensuring he’s playing in west London next season and are thought to be readying an approach as we speak.
If Mourinho manages to steal Lovren from under Rodgers’ nose, it could further stoke the rivalry between the two sides as they bid for title glory next term after both going agonisingly close last time.
