Monaco boss Claudio Ranieri has told Chelsea that they must pay almost double the fee that took Gareth Bale to Real Madrid over the summer if they are to sign Radamel Falcao.
The Colombian forward completed a stunning £50m switch to the newly promoted Ligue 1 side a matter of months ago, despite serious interest from the Blues.
However, Chelsea are still thought to be keen on the 27-year-old, who is already being linked with a move away from the Mediterranean outfit.
Monaco are desperate to keep their talismanic forward, and Ranieri – a one time Chelsea boss – has told his former employers that only an offer of £168m will be enough to force through a deal:
“If Gareth Bale is €100million then how much is Falcao? He is €200million [£168million],” he is quoted by The Metro.
Falcao has made a fine start to life in French football, netting an impressive seven goals in his first nine outings.
But, rumours are circulating that he is unsettled at the Stade Louis II and is already looking to make a move this winter.
Real Madrid are also in the hunt, and have been linked with a move for his signature next year.
Should Chelsea pay £168m for Radamel Falcao?
