Chelsea are reportedly ready to pull off a shock move to bolster their striking options by bringing Liverpool's Luis Suarez to Stamford Bridge.

The Uruguayan striker, 25, could leave for a fee of around £40 million at the end of the season according to the Daily Express, with Manchester City having also been linked to the player.

Suarez has been vital to Liverpool and is currently leading the Premier League scoring charts playing in a side that has struggled to hit their best form so far this season under new manager Brendan Rodgers.

“He is a good man and a wonderful player and if you work with him, you see why managers will love him and why supporters idolise him. He gives it his all,” Rodgers said of Suarez.

Chelsea’s much maligned Fernando Torres has been under pressure to produce but has failed to find form and Suarez would certainly boost their forward line.

Despite Rodgers' reluctance to sell his star player, the prospect of a club playing Champions League football could be an attraction for Suarez if Liverpool, currently 11th in the Premier League, fail to qualify for the competition.
