Chelsea have a vital summer of business ahead, with new manager Antonio Conte having a big job on his hands to turn a mislead side packed with talent back into title winners.

In order to get Chelsea back in the upper echelons of the Premier League, Conte will have to add top quality players to his side whilst retaining a strong core, as somewhere deep down inside they are still Premier League champions.

A key area of Chelsea's game plan is the midfield, their title winning team was driven by Matic and Fabregas holding the side together and moving the ball forward to a fluid attacking three who sat behind Diego Costa up-front.

Conte tends to play with just three in midfield, but having two players set further back with three in-front of them who play with slightly more freedom has worked so well at Stamford Bridge that Conte would be foolish not to consider it.

With that in mind he may want to add a couple of players and at FFC we think we've got the perfect mix, here is Chelsea's dream midfield for next season...

CESC FABREGAS

The Spanish international has had a mixed bag over the last season but still has everything in his locker to be a crucial component of Conte's plans moving forward.

The experience that Fabregas brings to a side is hard to match in world football, with a World Cup, two European Championships and a host of domestic league and cup titles, winning is ingrained in the way he plays.

With talent and a career the like of the 29-year-old, any manager would look to have Fabregas in their side.

PAUL POGBA

This enigmatic midfielder would be a wonderful addition to any side in the world and would be a leading star in Antonio Conte's Chelsea side.

An expensive buy but crucial nonetheless if Chelsea's new boss harbours any real ambitions to go on and win the title next season.

Pogba is yet to really fall into a particular role within the midfield, stuck between whether or not he is more of a holding player who looks to probe from further back, or be a full on attacking midfielder who is given the licence to roam and score goals.

However, Conte will know what he wants him to do and how to make him as effective as possible in his side.

EDEN HAZARD

Eden Hazard

A man with a point to prove, Hazard had an extremely off campaign last season but started to show shades of his former awe inspiring self towards the back end of the season.

Having begun to revive his form, the Belgian is fully committed to righting the wrongs of last season and putting in some stellar performances for Conte.

The former Premier League Player of the Season is almost unstoppable when at full tilt and will need to be on top form all season if Chelsea are to win anything in Conte's maiden season at the Bridge.

Whether he plays as a wide man providing for the front man or is deployed as more of an inside forward, making runs into the area and looking for goals, Hazard can be a lethal element of the three midfielders in behind the striker.

MAREK HAMSIK

Marek Hamsik

Napoli's key man has already proven his worth for Slovakia at EURO 2016 this summer, scoring a stunning goal in their 2-0 win over the hapless Russian side.

With two solid midfielders holding the side together behind him, the 28-year-old can be given the freedom to roam the attacking lines and have a real impact on a game.

Should Conte allow his three attacking midfielders to play in more fluid roles then Hamsik could be the perfect complement to Hazard and Co. and could drive Chelsea on to a successful title challenge.

WILLIAN

Willian Prove

Chelsea's stand out player last season, although that may not be the best accolade from a season of disappointment, Willian was impressive nonetheless.

Throughout the season, especially at the darkest times, it seemed as if the Brazilian winger was the only one who still cared about the fortunes of his club.

Willian is one of the players that Conte should look to build his team around and like both Hazard and Hamsik would work exceptionally well in a fluid three behind the centre-forward.

So long as Costa, or whoever Conte chooses to lead the line can link well with them, those three could quite possible for the deadliest attack in the Premier League next season.
