So Antonio Conte is the new man charged with what is possibly the biggest challenge in world football, forming some sort of stability at Chelsea.

So many big name bosses before him have failed with the task of building a team over a prolonged period of time, and if the most successful manager in our history (Jose Mourinho) can be discarded mid-way through a season, what chance does Mr Conte have?

Some of the issues facing the new man will be while Mourinho, Arsene Wenger & Pep Guardiola have been busy reshaping sides that finished 2nd 3rd & 5th respectably, Conte, due to his EURO 2016 commitments with Italy, may not be 'in charge' until mid-way through pre-season. Throw into the mix that a certain Michael Emenalo, who has the ear of the owner, and the task looks even larger.

Conte will bring with somewhat of a hard taskmaster approach, which may have worked with the mentally strong side of 10 years ago, but the 'kick into shape' technique may not work so well with the pampered bunch who stumbled to a midtable finish in 2015/16

Another of the new man's remits will be to see some of the younger players break through from a very successful youth set-up, while also trying to get the current crop back to the scintillating form shown in 2014/15.

Next season should be about rebuilding and re-energising a team and a club that has had its fair share of problems on and off the field last year, but this will take time.

Too many quick fixes is what has got us to this point, but time is not something that comes in the job description at Chelsea.
