The Premier League club are said to be tracking the prolific Colombian ahead of a possible January bid.
The Blues defender faced the forward as Brazil took on Colombia on Wednesday night, a game which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Although he failed to find the back of the net, Luiz was impressed with Falcao’s performance and urged Chelsea to secure his signature:
“I’m happy when there are great names attached to Chelsea.” The Brazilian is quoted by the Daily Mail.
“He’s a great player.”
“It would be a good choice for Falcao to come to Chelsea. All of the players would be happy because he would be a great player.”
It is believes that the Stamford Bridge outfit see the 26-year-old as the ideal replacement for £50m flop Fernando Torres.
Whereas the Spaniard has struggled in front of goal, the Atletico Madrid striker has been ruthless, notching an incredible 34 efforts since the start of last season.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is also said to be impressed and believes that the ex-Porto man would link well with attacking-midfield trio Eden Hazard, Juan Mata and Oscar.
With his current employers having paid over £35m for his signature in 2011 it’s likely a fee in excess of £40m would be demanded.
The Londoners will face opposition in the shape of Real Madrid, who are believed to be monitoring the situation.
