defender Ashley Cole has been fined £90,000 after admitted an FA charge in relation to his "bunch of twats" tweet towards the governing body.

Cole reacted angrily to the FA's comments regarding their doubts over the evidence he gave in the case involving Chelsea and England team mate John Terry and his alleged racial abuse towards QPR defender Anton Ferdinand in October last year.

The 31-year-old turned to the social networking site to vent his frustration at the FA's decision to disregard his evidence and give Terry a four match ban and £220,000 fine.

But despite apologising through his soliciter hours after the tweet and then to FA chairman David Bernstein in person, Cole was still charged for his actions.

A statement on the FA's website read: "Chelsea's Ashley Cole has been fined £90,000 after he admitted an FA charge in relation to a Twitter comment which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute," read a statement on the FA's website.

"Cole, who had requested a non-personal hearing, was also warned as to his future conduct." Meanwhile, Chelsea's John Terry has decided not to appeal against an FA judgement brought against him over the racial language he allegedly used towards QPR's Anton Ferdinand last year.
