Chelsea's recent loss at the hands of Newcastle United showed that even if they had a perfect start, they are still not perfect, leaving extra room for some reinforcements during the January window.

Jose Mourinho has already made attempts to lure a number of players to ensure that all positions at Stamford Bridge are properly covered and could even bring more stars in to up the level of competition in his already strong squad.

Sami Khedira

Sami Khedira CFC

Name: Sami Khedira

Age: 27

Position: Defensive Midfield

Nationality: Germany

Club: Real Madrid

Price: £10 - £15 million

With Sami Khedira likely to depart Real Madrid in January for a cut-price deal, it would be a surprise if Jose Mourinho doesn't try to lure his former player to join him at Chelsea. The German anchorman recently won the World Cup with Germany and can offer bags of experience.

Staying in the La Liga will see Khedira stagnate and the player has made his desire to play regular football well known. Newcastle caught the Blues off guard on the break and bringing in Khedira would make this Chelsea side more assured defensively.

Isco

Isco

Name: Isco

Age: 22

Position: Attacking Midfield

Nationality: Spain

Club: Real Madrid

Price: £30 - £35 million

Jose Mourinho knows exactly what a player of Isco's calibre is capable of and given his showing with Real Madrid this season, not signing him in January could see Liverpool snap him up instead. The young Spaniard is no doubt a world class talent, but he isn't likely to feature as a regular due to the star studded front line at Carlo Ancelotti's disposal.

At only 22, Mourinho must convince the club to pay his huge price tag as Isco is surely a player than can still offer so much. He can easily take the reigns from Cesc Fabregas at the heart of the midfielder and eventually be the club's main attacking playmaker.

Dani Alves

Alves CFC

Name: Dani Alves

Age: 31

Position: Right Back

Nationality: Brazil

Club: Barcelona

Price: £5 - £8 million

Dani Alves will be a great wing back at the disposal of Jose Mourinho due to the fact that the Barcelona defender can offer huge amounts of experience. He can also serve as a back up should Branislav Ivanovic needs a rest or if he needs to be moved into a more central role depending on the situation.

Alves is a player than can add that something extra when attacking and could be a great link up with national teammates Oscar and Ramires. Although he is often criticized for his defensive work rate, he can surely make up for than when Chelsea are on the attack.

Raphael Varane

Varane

Name: Raphael Varane

Age: 21

Position: Centre-back

Nationality: France

Club: Real Madrid

Price: £28 - £32 million

Jose Mourinho would be very interested in brining in Raphael Varane to add some extra competition for the centre-back role and eventually replace John Terry when the time comes. John Terry and Gary Cahill are currently Chelsea's first choice pairing but adding some competition in this position could benefit the team.

Having worked together during his time in Spain, Mourinho will know that Varane is one of the most promising centre-backs in the world. He has already secured a first team berth with the French national team, but has been getting very limited playing time in the La Liga as he is often overlooked by Carlo Ancelotti in favour of Sergio Ramos and Pepe.

Koke

Koke CFC

Name: Koke

Age: 22

Position: Midfield (Right, Left, Centre)

Nationality: Spain

Club: Atletico Madrid

Price: £48 million (release clause)

Chelsea are rumoured to have already agreed to triggered Koke's £48million release clause in order to add even more quality into the current squad. Koke is a regular face in the Atletico Madrid starting eleven and could easily step into the team at Stamford Bridge.

He already created eight goals in 14 appearances for Diego Simeone and could one day become Chelsea's main playmaker. His versatility in midfield makes him a great asset for Jose Mourinho as he can be deployed anywhere, whether it is on the left, the right, or even down the middle. His addition would add some serious competition for places as they hope to avoid losing any more games.
