There's been a bit of a French influence on Chelsea's dealings in the transfer market this summer.

The Blues have signed France international N'golo Kante from Premier League champions Leicester City in a bid to add some extra energy to their midfield as well as turn them back into title challengers.

Meanwhile, Michy Batshuayi has come in from Marseille to give Diego Costa competition up front and has done well when he has been called upon so far.

Antonio Conte will be looking for more ways he can improve the squad, however, even with their good start to the season, and could just look at France again given that his two French-connection signings have done what's been expected of them so far.

So we've had a look what's about in Ligue 1 and think these five could be worth a bid...

Fabinho

Fabinho (Monaco)

The Brazilian right-back is better than the declining Branislav Ivanovic and would be a very good option defensively for the Blues.

He has been linked with Manchester United this summer so he's clearly a good player and that also means the Stamford Bridge side will have to act quickly and decisively if they want to sign him.

If they do they'll be getting a very good defender.

Sebastien Corchia

Sebastien Corchia

The 25-year-old right-back would be another good option for the Blues as they look for a replacement of Ivanovic.

Corchia has been at Lille since 2014 being a mainstay in the side causing him to make marked progression in his ability.

He has been called up for the French team ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and so Chelsea may want to get this one done quickly before his stock rises further.

Javier Pastore

Pastore

Pastore is a quality footballer and exactly what the club would need to get them back in to the Champions League places.

Antonio Conte seems to like playing Oscar in the attacking midfield positions but the PSG man is arguably a better player and so would naturally improve the Blues' performances.

He'd cost a fair bit but Chelsea have the cash and the reputation to attract him.

Martin Braithwaite

Braithwaite would be a bit of a different option for the London club but there's no reason why he couldn't be a good one.

He can play out wide or through the middle as a forward and that would give Chelsea something they have very little of at the club.

Meanwhile, the Toulouse man also has 14 caps for Denmark and averaged a goal just over every three games in Ligue 1 last season.

Marco Verratti

Marco Verratti (Italy):

The idea of having a midfield two of N'golo Kante and Marco Verratti may not look physically imposing but the energy and tenacity of that pair would more than make up for it.

The two combined would give the Blues the ability to cut out attacks better than most sides whilst the work-rate would ensure they compete with the fittest sides in the league.

Verratti is a pocket-rocket and would inject a lot of pace in Chelsea's midfield.
