It wasn't really a surprise to see Chelsea crowned Premier League champions last weekend after their win against Crystal Palace.

The London side have been superb all season and it was only a matter of time before they were mathematically winners. This campaign as seen them score 69 goals with three games remaining, and captain John Terry has broken the record for the most goals scored by a defender in the Premier League.

They have been branded “boring” by rival teams, managers and fans but every single one of them would become boring if it meant they could win the title.

Chelsea have had some fantastic games this season but here are five key moments which set them on their way to glory...

Not losing against the big names

Chelsea v Manchester City - Barclays Premier League

Jose Mourinho was determined to show the rest of the Premier League just who was “the Special One” and he made sure he won against all the top four sides.

Chelsea got draws against Manchester City, drew one and won one against Manchester United and Arsenal and won on their visit to Anfield.

Liverpool will play Chelsea at the weekend and give them a Guard of Honour at Stamford Bridge as Jose looks to complete the set.

Unbeaten run at the start of the season

Manchester United v Chelsea - Barclays Premier League

Chelsea started the season with an unbeaten run, which had many wondering if they could go the whole season without losing.

It lasted for 23 games and included Manchester City, Everton, Tottenham and a 5-0 thrashing against Shalke in the Champions League.

That run came to an end at St James' Park when Newcastle beat them 2-1. The run pretty much defined Chelsea’s season and gave the rest of the Premier League the impression they were unbeatable.

The 'mental' side of football has become huge and Chelsea’s mind games certainly worked.

Second-leg v PSG

Chelsea v Paris St Germain - UEFA Champions League Second Round Second Leg

The first-leg had been a shocking performance, which saw the Blues well and truly outclassed.

The second saw Mourinho’s men fight back and they stayed strong against PSG’s wave of attacks. Although they were knocked out on away goals, Chelsea showed the talent they really possess and the way they came back really shaped the rest of their season as they focused on the League.

Wembley, Wembley

Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur - Capital One Cup Final

Chelsea won the first major trophy of the season when they beat London rivals Tottenham in the Capital One Cup at Wembley stadium.

The cup win motivated the side to go on and win another trophy, and after the game it was easy to see a new spring in the step of the players with determination etched on their faces.

The Blues haven’t lost a game since their Cup win and now they have more to celebrate.

Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Arsenal v Chelsea - Barclays Premier League

Chelsea’s 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium pretty much clinched the title for them. It may not have been as exciting as their 6-3 win against Everton earlier in the season, but the important games never are.

All Chelsea had to do was avoid defeat, so that's how they set themselves up. They knew that losing to Arsenal could give them a chance to come back and snatch the title from them.

The way the Blues played showed just how much of a tactical genius the Special One really is.
