It’s expected to be a summer of upheaval, rebuilding and change at Stamford Bridge. With Antonio Conte just a EURO 2016 tournament away from taking the reins in London, the futures of many Chelsea players is still up in the air.

Potential signings have also been a hot topic of conversation amongst supporters over the past couple of weeks, with some doubting how successful they can be in the transfer window when their manager won’t be at the club until July.

But one player that has been linked with a move back to Stamford Bridge is Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, who is thought to be open to a dramatic deal.

But what can the Belgian bring back to the Bridge? Here’s FIVE reasons why the former Blue can thrive once again in London.

The Old Connection

Whilst he only made 15 appearances for the Blues across two seasons, Lukaku knows the place and can get straight back to work. There’s no need to settle him in like a new signing that has joined from another league and that could prove to be a massive benefit with Lukaku himself thought to be one of Belgium’s biggest players at the Euros this year.

A point to prove

LukakuCenter

Back in 2011/12 season when Chelsea won the Champions League, Lukaku claimed he didn’t want to hold the trophy because he hadn’t played enough games to have an impact. Talk about having a point to prove second time round, eh? The Belgian will have a massive chip on his shoulder and will be using his past experience at the Bridge to kick on second time around

A better player than ever before

Even with Everton struggling this season, the Belgian still seems to be developing very nicely indeed. 25 goals in 46 appearances has well and truly carried the Toffees this year and you’d wonder how bad it could have got for Roberto Martinez if he didn’t have Lukaku’s goals in the side.

So much potential

Lukaku

People forget that Lukaku is only 23-years-old - it feels like he’s been around forever already. But he’s now in his fourth season at Everton and things are only looking up. With the EUROs just around the corner, Lukaku has another chance to shine in one of the best Belgium squads we’ve seen in years. With another chance to impress comes an increased chance of a transfer to a better club and there’s little doubt Chelsea would be waiting to swoop.

Looking at Lukaku’s career stats since he turned 16 are pretty astonishing. The bulky Belgian has hit the net wherever he’s been in his career, even banging in 19 goals in his first season in his homeland. It’s an impressive record and just another plus factor for the Blues - a potential transfer for Lukaku would be pretty safe.
