The misfiring trio netted just 19 times between them, and the problem was further exacerbated by Frank Lampard’s sharp decline throughout the campaign and Brazil international Oscar struggling for end product after the turn of 2014.
Cesc Fabregas isn’t quite the Lampard successor that many have billed him to be, but the Spaniard will offer a consistent supply of goals from the middle of the park, having bagged 42 goals in 151 appearances for Barcelona.
