West Ham midfielder Joe Cole hopes to see Jose Mourinho return to Stamford Bridge this summer as he hailed him the best manager in the world.

Cole enjoyed his best years under Mourinho in West London and despite now being back at London rivals West Ham, the former England playmaker would love to see Mourinho go up against Sir Alex Ferguson again next season.

Cole was one of a number of talented players to revel in the current Real Madrid bosses presence as the Blues went on to win every trophy possible apart from the Champions League.

It has been widely reported that the 50 year old will return to Stamford Bridge this summer after his time at Real Madrid took a turn for the worse this season.

Cole believes the Premier League will be a better place if his former boss returned.

“I’d love to see Jose Mourinho come back [to Chelsea],” Cole told talkSPORT.

“He’s a great guy, I owe him a lot and we had some great successes together.

“Chelsea fans and the media would love to see him back, he’s great value.

“He’s the best manager in the world at the moment. I’d love to see him back - for the [good of the] Premier League as much as anything. Imagine him going up against Sir Alex Ferguson again. I hope he comes back.”
