Despite failing in his efforts to loan Ba at the beginning of the season, Arsene Wenger should renew his interest in the upcoming window. Almost a year has passed yet still Arsenal remain short of options up front.
Olivier Giroud has performed reasonably well but has seen his form suffer through a lack of rotation. Yaya Sanogo has looked a decent prospect and Lukas Podolski has convinced as a finisher in recent matches but all too often Wenger has had to rely upon a fatigued Giroud.
Mourinho previously blocked the move on the basis that he didn’t want to strengthen any of his title rivals but has since sold Juan Mata to Manchester United. A signing that would fit comfortably within the Gunners’ financial structure, Ba would be an astute purchase as an option to either complement or rotate with Giroud.
