Stoke City manager has called for the Football Association to review their banning procedures following David Luiz’s tackle on Jon Walters on Saturday, according to Goal.

The Potters boss was unhappy at Michael Oliver’s decision to only award Luiz a yellow card and now finds it ‘ridiculous’ that the Portuguese international can not suffer any retrospective disciplinary action.

Serb Branislav Ivanovic is facing a review following his alleged elbow to Stoke winger Michael Kightly. Pulis said on the matter, “I don’t want to get people booked and sent off. If Ivanovic has done anything wrong, I’m sure you’ll write about it.”

Pulis added, “The worst thing is that Luiz’s challenge is a very, very poor one but because the referee’s seen it and booked him he’s not going to miss a game. It’s like a policeman watching a robber rob a bank and because he’s seen it, the police are going to let him off. Whereas if he didn’t  see him, they’re going to arrest him. It’s absolutely crazy. Ridiculous.”

Stoke have now been at the receiving end of the rule on both occasions. Defender Andy Wilkinson is currently serving a three-match suspension following a recent elbow on Manchester City’s Mario Balotelli in last week’s 1-1 draw.

Despite Pulis’ sense of injustice on Luiz’s tackle, the Welshman believes that referee Oliver was excellent in what was a fractious encounter at times, “You’ve got to let the referee the control the game and I felt Michael Oliver did smashing at times, especially for the number of times players went into the box at fell over.”

Pulis was annoyed at what he felt was a repeated effort by Chelsea’s players to try and win fouls and penalties, citing Oscar and Branislav Ivanovic as the main culprits. He argues that the bigger clubs try and woo the referee into giving them favourable decisiosn when they’re at home in front of large intimidating crowds.

Pulis will be hoping that his out of sorts Stoke side can win their first game of the season when they entertain an out of sort Swansea City on Saturday. Meanwhile, Chelsea will be expecting to raise their game when they travel for their most difficult game of the season away at Arsenal this weekend.
