Frank Lampard will leave Chelsea this summer after a glittering career at Stamford Bridge, a career in which he won three Premier League titles and two European trophies. The focus now turns to who will replace the club legend in the centre of midfield.
Jose Mourinho has started what most assume will be a summer of intense business at Chelsea. The club have already sold David Luiz, while Oscar or Eden Hazard may also depart at some stage. This is a manager who is clearly moulding the team in his image.
But Lampard will be a miss, both on the pitch and in the dressing room. His performances have certainly declined over the past 12 months, and the team clearly missed the regularity with which he’d find the net. Replacing that production is a must this summer.
Chelsea and Mourinho, while keeping FFP in mind, do have the funds to properly replace the England international. These are six options from across England and Europe who could fill the void left by Lampard.
