Chelsea’s hopes of completing a mega money summer swoop for Radamel Falcao have taken a major hit, after the striker confirmed that he wants to stay at Monaco.
The Colombia international was a Blues target last year, but he opted to instead join the wealthy French side from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth just over £50m.
However, rumours have indicated that the prolific forward has struggled to adapt to life at his new club and has been questioning his decision in light of low crowd numbers at the Stade Louis II.
Chelsea are believed to have since made him a top target for the coming off-season, with Jose Mourinho known to be looking to snap up a world class goal-getter after growing frustrated with the misfiring Fernando Torres, the ageing Samuel Eto’o and the relatively unused Demba Ba.
Falcao, 28, is currently out for the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury, and has revealed that he is looking to stay at Monaco for the coming few seasons:
“I want to play for Monaco in the next years. My injury? It’s going well, the dream to play the World Cup is giving me strength,” he is quoted by talkSPORT.
