Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has told his team-mates to back new manager Rafael Benitez or leave the club.

Many fans of the Premier League giants have voiced their discontent at the arrival of the Spaniard and there are even rumours that certain members of the squad are displeased by his appointment.

Cech pulled no punches in his assessment of the situation, urging the squad to do their best to help Benitez and the club:

“You adapt or you’re out. It’s as simple as that.” He is quoted by The Metro.

“You’re here to play, you’re here to do what the club and manager wants you to do. If you don’t like it, you can leave.”

“It is up to us to have a good run of results to change their (the fans) minds.

“The manager surely deserves a chance – it’s up to us to make things happen and make the fans happy.’

The Czech stopper has also set his sights on keeping his position as the Blues’ number one:

“I want to play so I do everything I can so that the manager has no option but to put me in goal.

“That’s the way I work and is the way it works for everybody because, if you stay sad and don’t do the right things, you can end up on the bench which is even more disappointing.”
