As the start of the new English Premier League campaign draws near, every club will be opting to complete their transfers as soon as they can so that their signings can take part in matchday one.

With Chelsea already completing most of their targeted transfers, Jose Mourinho looks to be ready to lead his team out against Burnley this coming Monday. However, no squad is completely perfect, so if the club have a chance, they could very well add some extra reinforcements.

So, here is the DREAM starting XI for Chelsea on Monday, with a slight twist!

Goalkeeper

Courtois

Name: Thibaut Courtois

Age: 22

Nationality: Belgium

Although Petr Cech hasn’t seen a drop in form over the past few seasons, Jose Mourinho may decide to go with his young goalkeeper in order to build for the future.

His success with Atletico Madrid has made him into one of the best upcoming keepers in the world and is now ready to prove himself as Chelsea’s number one.

Right Back

Ivanovic

Name: Branislav Ivanovic

Age: 30

Nationality: Serbia

Branislav Ivanovic has been one of the most consistent players for Chelsea over the past few seasons and looks very certain to retain his place in the squad despite the friendly competition with Cesar Azpilicueta.

He featured in 50 games for his side last season, contributing very well in defence while also causing problems near the opponent goal.

Right Centre Back

Cahill

Name: Gary Cahill

Age: 28

Nationality: England

Despite a woeful performance from Gary Cahill at the World Cup, his partnership with John Terry seemed to have worked wonders the previous season.

With Jose Mourinho aiming to use his younger defenders as back up, it is very likely that the England international will start against Burnley on Monday.

Left Centre Back

Terry

Name: John Terry

Age: 33

Nationality: England

John Terry will be the first name of Jose Mourinho’s team sheet due to his sheer presence and influence for just being on the pitch.

Despite his age, his form has been consistent throughout the pre-season and we will surely be seeing the Chelsea captain led his team out for the English Premier League opener.

Left Back

Filipe Luis

Name: Filipe Luis

Age: 29

Nationality: Brazil

Filipe Luis’ £20 million move from Atletico Madrid sees him as the perfect replacement for long serving left back Ashley Cole and would definitely be given the nod to start at left back.

His La Liga winning run with his former club would have already given him a benchmark for the sort of performance Jose Mourinho is after.

Right Centre Midfield

Matic

Name: Nemanja Matic

Age: 26

Nationality: Serbia

After resigning for Chelsea, Nemanja Matic became a real force in the centre of the field, controlling the pace of the game with his strong composed tackling as well as with his precise passing.

He couldn't play a part in last season’s Champions League because he had already appeared for Benfica, but this time around, he looks to be the perfect fit for the Blues' holding midfielder role.

Left Centre Midfield

Pogba

Name: Paul Pogba

Age: 21

Nationality: France

Chelsea have been interested in Juventus’ star midfield throughout the summer and if he does make the switch, Jose Mourinho will have completed his perfect squad.

Named as the 2014 World Cup Best Young Player, Paul Pogba is regarded as one of the best central midfielders in the world.

Right Wing

Oscar

Name: Oscar

Age: 22

Nationality: Brazil

Oscar has been used as an attacking midfielder on many occasions the previous season, but Jose Mourinho could consider the Brazilian forward to shift to the right wing where he was in top form during the World Cup for his nation.

His pace, trickery, and vision makes him a very vital member of the Blues squad while his link up with new signing Diego Costa is bound to be key to Mourinho’s success.

Centre Attacking Midfield

Fabregas

Name: Cesc Fabregas

Age: 27

Nationality: Spain

New addition Cesc Fabregas is said to be Chelsea’s missing piece when he signed for the club, and based on his pre-season form, it looks as though his signing could work wonders in linking up the midfield to the attack.

With Matic providing defensive cover, the 27-year-old will be given a lot of freedom to roam in and about the opponent box, causing problems to whoever is given the job of marking him.

Left Wing

Hazard

Name: Eden Hazard

Age: 23

Nationality: Belgium

Eden Hazard should now be fully adapted to the English Premier League as he will try to replicate his previous season form where he was awarded as Chelsea’s Player of the Year.

His ability to move the ball with pace down the flanks is sure to cause problems for anymore and his ability to take the game into his own hands means Jose Mourinho surely cannot afford to drop him.

Striker

Costa

Name: Diego Costa

Age: 25

Nationality: Spain

Despite a torrid time with Spain at the World Cup, Diego Costa is proven goal scorer and his form with Atletico Madrid has already proven that with 27 goals in 35 La Liga appearances last season.

With an additional four goals during Chelsea’s pre-season, it looks as though he will easily adapt to life with his new team mates as well as the Premier League itself.
