Donning a mask better fitting of Christian Bale's iconic performances as Batman, you might be forgiven for assuming Cesc Fabregas would be the hero of the hour as Chelsea took on West Brom in the Premier League this evening.

Yet, the Spain international has undoubtedly turned villain at arguably the worst possible moment for the Blues, seeing red for what can only described as a hilariously childish incident as the visitors found themselves 1-0 down to a Saido Berahino screamer.

Referee Mike Jones called a halt in play as Diego Costa got involved in some habitual fisticuffs with his opposing centre-back, the ever-rugged Gareth McAuley. That lead to a little squabble between the two; handbags at half-mast as Alan Pardew would say.

But just as a small rabble of overbearing masculinity began to form in the penalty box, Cesc Fabregas - perhaps keen to take the rest of the season off, perhaps annoyed he's missing this evening's episode of Game of Thrones, perhaps simply reminiscing about all the times he used to boot the ball at physically ill-equipped nerds in the school play ground  - rather inexplicably decided to boot the ball at Chris Brunt's head.

Of course, he was on target - but Jones wasted no time in brandishing a red card. Unsurprisingly, Twitter exploded into a plethora of emotions.
