Islam Feruz has recently been called back from Championship side Blackpool by the Premier league leaders because they were unhappy with the amount of games he was getting at the club.

Bolton had previously expressed an interest in signing Islam Feruz, according to The Daily Mail, and could seek to rekindle their interest following these latest developments.

The Scotsman only made two appearances for the club in January and was left out of the squad in recent weeks after the Seasider's boss admitted he was starting to plan for League 1. Feruz is a 19-year-old striker who only started playing senior level at the beginning of the season.

He started as a youngster at Celtic before joining Chelsea. Feruz has yet to play for Chelsea's first team – mainly playing in the Under 21s – and has yet to score his first professional goal.

So why is he so popular with Championship clubs?

Many Football League sides love trying to sign Premier League youngsters who need game time because they hope they will find the next rising star. It has happened on many occasions such as Blackpool signing Tom Ince on loan from Liverpool and Jack Greelish at Notts County – who is now playing regularly for Aston Villa.

Feruz's potential move to Bolton would be a bit of an odd decision though. Bolton currently sit 10th in the Championship – safe from the relegation zone – and still pushing for promotion, kind of.

The Lancashire side say they are still trying for promotion but realistically it's a hard battle. Of course, teams still want to push for promotion but there are 11 points between them in 10th and Brentford in 6th.

Chelsea have gone from sending him to a club who were trying to survive to one club who are potentially pushing for the play-offs. It could actually be quite a clever decision in Chelsea's eyes because he is more likely to get game time that way.

It takes time for players to fit into a team and adapt to how managers want them to play but I am sure Neil Lennon knows realistically there has to be an element of luck for Bolton to make 6th.

Because of this it means that Bolton as a team can relax more, Neil Lennon can try new things in preparation for next season and a young striker who is hoping to become a Premier League star in the future can come and try and show the world what he is made of.

As long as they keep doing what they have been then they will just have to see how the other teams fall around them. Lennon's idea of signing a striker who hasn't had a chance yet is something that could be very beneficial.

The young striker needs someone to give him and chance, and who knows, if Bolton did get promoted then maybe there would be chance for his loan to become a longer agreement.

Feruz could be the next shining star just waiting for the right ship to come along.
