Leicester City's fairytale in the Premier League has taken a grim turn this season, with the defending champions winning just three of their 12 games and sitting two points above the relegation zone, but they continue to make waves in Europe.

Tonight, Leicester have the chance to seal their spot in the knock-out stages of the Champions League as they only require a point against Club Brugges. Yet to concede in Europe, Claudio Ranieri's men will certainly be optimistic ahead of the tie.

However, Stan Collymore has issued a warning to the Foxes following their woeful form domestically and wrote in The Daily Mirror about an unwanted record that could be coming their way.

"Just seven months after winning the Premier League title they find themselves just two points above the drop zone. While at the start of the campaign I urged them to focus on the Champions League, I didn’t think they’d be where they are in the table with almost a third of the season gone."

"That just goes to show that if you take your eye off the ball, however fractionally, it’s going to hurt you. You only have to look at the Championship to see that. It’s a graveyard of giants and Leicester, who stayed up only by the skin of their teeth two seasons ago and who were tipped for relegation last term, do not need to be worrying themselves with that a year after their miracle."

"The last thing they need as a club (with their grand designs to make their stadium capacity 42,000) or as individuals (Jamie Vardy has a film of his life in production) is to go down in history as the first team to win the Premier League and be relegated the next season."

The Foxes have been far from the force that stormed to Premier League glory last season and face a massive test in their next five domestic matches to turn things around, as a continuation of their poor form could leave them in a troublesome situation.

Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Manchester City, Bournemouth and Stoke are awaiting Claudio Ranieri's side in the next few weeks and you'd identify four of those matches as winnable. If they fail to battle through though, then their chances will look bleak at the halfway stage of the season.
