Common sight at Chelsea back, Man United man is magic… Five things we learnt on the weekend

Get used to it, football fans, the Premier League will be serving up yet more thrilling games over the coming weeks with alarming regularity. At least that’s what we can expect if the festive period lives up the ten matches we just witnessed on the weekend.

It was, again, an action-packed two days of the beautiful game, with 36 goals plundered across the fixtures on show – not a bad return, eh?

There were interesting stories across the board, too, with Chelsea winning their NINTH game in a row, arguably, the big one. It seems that Antonio Conte’s Blues have their fear factor back after a horrid 2015/16 and that perhaps influenced West Brom’s negative tactics, with the Baggies fielding what looked like a 6-3-1 formation at Stamford Bridge. West London hasn’t seen a bus parked so rigidly since the days of Jose Mourinho…

And that leads us neatly to Manchester United, who beat Spurs 1-0. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was once again on form as he netted the only goal of the game to make it two goals in as many matches.

Elsewhere Liverpool’s Loris Karius added a few more clips to his bloopers video compilation in a 2-2 draw with West Ham, while Leicester looked like champions again as they exposed Manchester City’s lack of defensive nous in ruthless fashion.

We have @RyanJayBailey in the house for his Monday round-up. Enjoy!
