Malky Mackay will be hoping to make Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha his first signing as Crystal Palace boss, according to the Daily Star.
The former Cardiff City boss is expected to be named as the new Selhurst Park chief in the next 48 hours following the surprise departure of Tony Pulis last week.
Pulis’ exit was largely down to the potential arrival of Zaha this summer, with the former Stoke boss not interested in brining him to the club due to reservations about the player’s character, while chairman Steve Parish was eager to bring him back.
But Mackay appears to have agreed with Parish over Zaha and is expected to make the England U21 his first summer signing after putting pen-to-paper on a three year deal with the Eagles.
Mackay has been promised “significant funds” to improve the current squad between now and September 1st’s Transfer Window deadline.
Should he sign in time, Mackay’s first game will be against former club West Ham at Selhurst Park.
