Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish has explained why he believes Wilfried Zaha is worth £20 million.

The 19-year-old striker has been the subject of increased transfer speculation in recent months and the Palace owners have since put a huge £20 million price tag on him in an attempt to warn off  any potential buyers.

Parish reiterated that the starlet is well worth that sort of money and says that the Championship side are not under any pressure to sell.

Parish told Sky Sports: "I think Wilfried is an exceptional talent. I watch him week in, week out. He is obviously young and a little bit special, and I think that that is his value.

"I think he is worth that to a club at least. But that's as much as to set the bar for people so that they know that we're not in a position where we have to sell and they need to come next summer, if that's probably the sort of time we are thinking about, with proper money we expect for talent that the player has got."

Parish also admitted that he is expecting increased interest in Zaha as we approach the January trasnfer window and that clubs may be looking for weaknesses in the player's contract.

"There has been a lot noise and a lot of interest. We have a couple of bids in the past in various transfer windows that we have turned down," he added.

"Right now I think there is a lot of jockying for position, trying to find the weak spots, a clause or some way that they can get him on the cheap. But that's how football works unfortunately."
