There are many myths in football. Some of them have sprung up from taking a lazy look at half the facts and leaping to an uninformed conclusion, such as the persistent belief that Italian football is boring. A surprising amount of myths seem to have come from commentators just saying the first thing that comes into their head or talking just to avoid the silence. They create a myth such as just before half time is a brilliant time to score and then they make it seem like a truth by saying it every time it happens. Other myths may even contain grains of truth that have grown into something more.
This list aims to shed some light on the myths that we have swallowed up far too easily. It is amazing what we will believe if it is repeated often enough with conviction.
