The agent of Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos claims the defender rejected a ‘big’ approach from a Premier League club, according to the Express.

The Spaniard is widely considered to be one of the world’s best defenders, and has two years to run on his deal at the Bernabeu.

Manchester City have been on the hunt for a top class partner for Vincent Kompany, while Jose Mourinho knows Ramos well from his time at Real Madrid.

Both clubs are perhaps the only in England who would be able to afford a transfer fee for Ramos, whilst matching his wages at the Spanish giants.

However, Rene Ramos, the brother and agent of the Spaniard insists he remains happy in the Spanish capital and won’t be considering a move.

He said: “Out of respect to the club I will only say that they are English.

“The offers are very, very big in economical terms, but we are at the club we want to be at. The best in the world.

“So, more than once, I had to say ‘Thanks very much for your interest, but no.’ I reiterate, right now, leaving Real Madrid is a non-starter.”
