Roberto Martinez

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has told fans not to expect big departures from Goodison Park in January, according to the Express.

Toffees stars Leighton Baines and Ross Barkley have been linked with moves away from the Merseyside club, but the former Wigan boss has insisted he has no interest in selling the club’s important players:

“Once Marouane Fellaini and Victor Anichebe left, that gave us the opportunity to reinvest. Now we are in a position where we need a bit of continuity and time to squeeze our potential as a team. Stability is very important for us.” Said Martinez.

Whilst Fellaini joined United over the summer, England left-back Baines importantly didn’t, deciding to stay at Everton.

And it seems Martinez is keen to make sure Baines remains a Toffee by warning off other clubs a whole 2 months before the transfer window reopens.

The FA Cup winning manager has had a strong start at Goodison Park, and victory over Tottenham today would see the club move up to 2nd in the Premier League table. Whilst Sunday’s opponents decided to cash in on their prize asset, Martinez is adamant that he will not be doing the same at his new club Everton.

How important are Baines and Barkley to Everton? How high will the Toffees finish this season?
