Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady is close to signing a pre-contract agreement that would see him join Everton in the summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Roberto Martinez is a long term admirer of the Republic of Ireland international, and tried to sign him on several occasions while in charge of Wigan.
He has almost finalised personal terms with the winger, who would be free to join the Toffees when his contract at the Russian club expires in June.
It had been mentioned that Everton may consider paying a cut price transfer fee to bring McGeady to Goodison Park this month, although it seems Martinez is happy to wait until the summer.
Martinez is also understood to be plotting a summer move for Blackpool winger Thomas Ince.
The Blues boss believes the former Liverpool youngster could be a massive hit at Goodison Park, where he would be suited to the attacking style he has implemented this season.
Ince is keeping his options open, and is set to discuss a possible move to Swansea City this week, although reports suggest he is excited by the apparent interest from the Toffees.
However, any deal for the 21-year-old looks set to be dependent on the verdict of a tribunal hearing which is set to take place in June, to determine what compensation fee Blackpool would be entitled to receive for the England Under-21 star.
