On-loan Everton attacker Gerard Deulofeu has stated that he is ready to return to Barcelona at the end of the season.
The Spanish starlet has been on a season-long deal at Goodison Park, where he has impressed in a number of big games.
His fine displays had led to talk that the Toffees would try to extend his stay on Merseyside, in the hope that the fierce competition at the Nou Camp may tempt the 19-year-old to spend another campaign in England.
Although a highly-rated player, Deulofeu is some way down the pecking order at Barca, with the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Pedro and Alexis Sanchez already vying for a role in a crowded attack.
However the teenage ace says that he is ready to return to his parent club instead of prolonging his time at Everton:
“I am working hard with the aim of returning to Barca next season, I want to earn a place in Barca’s attacking line.” He is quoted by talkSPORT.
“I accepted the challenge (at Everton) last summer and I am happy with my decision. Now I am more mature as a person and as a player.
“Perhaps there was a lack of confidence in me (at Barcelona), but that is normal as I was young and it’s difficult to find coaches that trust young players.”
Deulofeu is one of a number of loan players at Everton, alongside Romelu Lukaku, Gareth Barry and Lacina Traore.
