Tim Howard believes that keeping hold of loan stars such as Romelu Lukaku and Gareth Barry should be Everton’s priority this summer.
The duo are two of a few stars currently at Goodison Park on a temporary basis, and have played huge roles in the Toffees’ impressive campaign.
Lukaku has been, arguably, the more important of the pair netting 14 Premier League goals, but a permanent move from Chelsea appears to be unlikely.
Barry has been almost as pivotal, and he could be snapped up for free with his Manchester City contract due to come to an end in the next few months.
Howard – one of the Merseysiders’ most influential players – believes that with Europa League football secured signings are needed, and that maintaining the presence of the aforementioned double act should be a main concern:
“I have to imagine that we would try our best to sure up our loan signings, first and foremost, who were huge for us, Romelu Lukaku and Gareth Barry, but that’s the starting point. After that we still have to add players.” He is quoted by The Express.
“I don’t know specific positions. The one thing I think is that we’re strong in a number of positions so anything that gets brought in or added only strengthens us.
“I wish I had that type of power that I could go in and say what I think we need but I don’t so I just have to sit back and go home and every now and again jump online and see what kind of business Everton is doing, listen to the rumours and get excited.”
