A new era is dawning at Goodison Park. As the genuine disappointment of the Martinez reign is firmly swept under the carpet, Everton fans are optimistic and have every reason to be.

The club have managed to persuade one of the most sought after managers in the Premier League to lead them into the new season and beyond.

With Ronald Koeman now in charge and new owner and billionaire Farhad Moshiri ready to spend freely, it is set to be an exciting summer for Everton fans.

The signings that Koeman made at former club Southampton prove he is an astute mover in the transfer market. A number of Dutch internationals and Eredivisie stars made the move to St. Mary’s during Koeman’s reign, and thoroughly impressed.

Will the 53-year-old look to his homeland once again to find new, exciting talent?

We take a look at five Dutch stars who could kick-start Koeman’s Everton revolution...

Georginio Wijnaldum

Georginio Wijnaldum celebrates

It has been a torrid season for Georginio Wijnaldum in his maiden year in England. Relegated with Newcastle and failure to qualify for the European Championships with the Netherlands has compounded a simply awful 12 months for the 25-year-old.

However, the former PSV man was arguably the standout player on Tyneside in 2015/16 and without his eleven goals from midfield, Newcastle could have been relegated much earlier in the season.

Having worked with Koeman closely before, Wijnaldum will likely be very interested in a move to Everton, although Newcastle will likely hold out for upwards of £15 million for their star man.

Jasper Cillessen

Following the departure of Tim Howard, Everton are in the market for a quality goalkeeper to rival Joel Robles for the number 1 spot, and Jasper Cillessen would provide perfect competition.

The 27-year-old has been the first choice keeper at Ajax for three years and the Netherlands national team for 2 years. In that time, he has developed into a mature, confident player whose reliability has seen his reputation grow significantly.

Manchester United were rumoured to be sniffing around Cillessen last year, before the David De Gea transfer to Real Madrid fell through.

Everton would be wise to act fast in recruiting a man who could become the first choice stopper at Goodison for the next decade.

Vincent Janssen

At just 22, Vincent Janssen is fast becoming one of the most sought after young strikers in Europe.

The AZ Alkmaar star was the top scorer in the Eredivisie last season with a grand total of 27 goals in 34 games.

This domestic form has carried over to his national team appearances, where he has netted 3 times in his first 5 caps.

If Romelu Lukaku decides to leave Goodison Park, Janssen would be a more than capable replacement.

Riechedly Bazoer

Having established himself in the Ajax first team at just 18, Riechedly Bazoer is now a permanent fixture in the national team too and is the most talked about teenager in the Netherlands right now.

The combative, powerful centre midfielder would fit superbly into the Premier League. He combines his aforementioned strength with great passing ability and is supremely comfortable with the ball at his feet.

However, Ajax view Bazoer as the future of the club and will likely be asking for £20 million for the young prodigy.

Jeffrey Bruma

Now firmly established as a mainstay in the Dutch national side, Jeffrey Bruma is fast becoming the defender that Chelsea hoped he would become when he plied his trade at Stamford Bridge between 2009 and 2013.

Everton will need to strengthen their defence, especially if John Stones makes a big-money move elsewhere.

At just 24, Bruma has his best years ahead of him and is improving immensely every season. The only stumbling block in a potential Everton move for Bruma is a reported buy-back clause that Chelsea placed in the Dutchman’s contract.
